Saturday March 1st 1pm Jigsaw Puzzle Contest $40

Gather together a team of up to four of your friends to compete against the other teams to be the fastest to assemble a 500-piece puzzle. PRIZES for the top three finishing teams!
Entry fee of $40 is for one team of up to four puzzlers plus the puzzle to be completed. There will be a maximum of eight teams, and all teams will be given the same puzzle to complete, and the team gets to keep the puzzle.

Class taught by Tiffany’s ResinCraft Workshops. Craft a one-of-a-kind DIY Resin Picture

  • 5” x 7” or 8” x 10” size picture = $52 
  • NO PRIOR art knowledge required, beginners welcome!
  • Not a crafty person?  No problem! I will be providing all the supplies to choose from to make it your own!
  • All materials included.
  • All minors ages 10 and over must be accompanied by a participating adult.
  • If you have a special keepsake (shells, old jewelry, etc.) that you want to include in your project, please bring it with you to class.

You will be working with resin, which needs to cure overnight.  You can take home your project the same day at your own risk (not recommended) or you can pick up as early as the next day. The resin we will be using in class is an art resin.  The formula has no VOCs (volatile organic compounds), no fumes and it’s 100% solids and is safe for home use.

Saturday March 15th 1pm Sourdough 101 Class $75

Come join us for a fun and interactive sourdough workshop taught by Elaine Dube of Hello Simple. Learn the art of making your own sourdough bread from scratch. You’ll be walked through the process, learning tips and tricks along the way. This is a hands-on event, so be prepared to get your hands dirty (in flour)! Don’t miss out on this delicious opportunity!

You will leave class with dough to bake at home and a well-established, 105 year old starter!

Please bring: Large Mixing Bowl, tea towel or dish towel

Sunday March 23rd 1pm Fairy Garden Fun Class $42

Join Kilns of Flanders for this intergenerational class. Students will create a variety of mushrooms, gnomes and animals with clay.  They will then paint their clay creations with colorful underglazes. 

The Fairy Garden objects are sized to fit into an egg carton and each student can make a collection of 12 items.  Adults and children are encouraged to register for this class, but it is also open to individual adults.

The projects will be clear glazed and fired at the instructor’s home studio.  They will be available for pick-up 2-3 weeks after the class

FREE EVENT Friday March 28th 5pm Meet George Washington Part One: Prelude to War – the causes of the Revolutionary War.

A lively and engaging presentation by life-long historian, teacher, and performer David Johnston who will present the entire series as an historical re-enactment as George Washington.

Part one of a twelve-part series presenting a comprehensive overview of the American Revolution covering the fifty-year time period from 1750 to 1800. This series examines the lives of the most influential Founders, and the presidency of George Washington, ending with the presidency of John Adams.

PART ONE: PRELUDE TO WAR ~ THE CAUSES OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION: England defeated France in the French & Indian war (1754-1763) and gained possession of all of Canada and the Ohio River Valley, and then decided to tax the 13 Colonies to help pay off their war expenses.

Presenter and performer David Johnston, “The Traveling Professor”, has been teaching American History to groups across the Twin Cities Metro Area for over 25 years. As an historian he strives to tell the story, in a clear and compelling fashion, of the important figures and events that formed and shaped our great nation. David graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, and from Bethel Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree. He served for 42 years as a pastor in churches throughout the Twin Cities Metro area and outstate Minnesota. He is completing his studies for his doctorate from United Theological Seminary of St. Paul. David has taught history to senior groups in community centers throughout the Metro area and has also taught seniors through the Augsburg College of the Third Age and Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU ~ Marshall, MN) Gold College. David and his wife Jeanie own and operate the tour company, Jeanie’s Journeys. David regularly leads tour groups to historical sites as “The Traveling Professor”.  On these historical tours David tells the important stories of the people and events in American history that changed lives and formed and shaped our great nation.

Saturday April 12th 1pm Spring Ceramic Trays Class $45

Join Kilns of Flanders to make a set of special ceramic trays in this fun class. The trays make great trinket dishes or can be used for serving snacks.

Students will use wood blocks to create small trays, (up to 5” x 6”) from slabs of clay. After the trays are made, students will use colorful underglazes to decorate the trays with their own special patterns. 

The instructor will glaze and fire the trays with a clear coating after the class.  The trays will be ready for pick up 2-3 weeks after the class.

Class is limited to 16 participants, class fee of $45 includes one beverage of your choice.

Roll up your sleeves and get ready for this fun class taught by Tyler from Biddy Bakehouse and learn to create beautiful, bright cupcakes! This beginner-friendly class covers the basics of buttercream, techniques, and recipes. You’ll decorate 4 seasonal cupcakes, and all supplies and instruction are provided. Just bring a smile (and maybe an apron)! Ticket includes one complimentary beverage of your choice. You’ll leave with your 4 decorated cupcakes, the metal piping tips used, and the knowledge to recreate them using her recipes. PART FOUR: THE PEACE OF PARIS AND HOW THE 1780’S LED TO THE CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION. The 8 year war ended with the signing of the Peace of Paris on September 3, 1783, a stunning victory for the new nation which led to the birth of an empire on the North American continent. The 1780’s was a time of political turmoil and uncertainly which led to the Constitutional Convention of 1787 presided over by George Washington.

We welcome mushroom expert Kathy Yerich to the farm. She will be doing a presentation about foraging for mushrooms, and we will take a walk on the trails of our 172 acres to see what we can find (observation only). 

“Start Seeing Mushrooms” Co-author of the popular and accessible local field guide, Mushrooms of the Upper Midwest. Kathy Yerich has been hanging out with the Minnesota Mycological Society (MMS) and North American Mycological Society (NAMA) for more than 15 years.

THIS EVENT IS FREE but registration required as this class is limited to 50 participants. Registration will be live in July.
